Describing the Ngorongoro Crater as unique would be an understatement – it stands as the world's largest intact volcanic crater. What's even more awe-inspiring is the diverse and densely populated wildlife that thrives in this blue/green expanse. Every conceivable species, from lions to flamingoes, calls this region home.

Our safari concludes at the picturesque Tarangire Park, where abundant elephants and other notable big game await – a fitting conclusion to this incredibly comprehensive two-country African safari vacation.

Day 1 Nairobi – Masai Mara

5-Hour Drive
Meals: Lunch, Dinner.
At 7:30 am, meet your trusted companion for the week, your Grayton
Expeditions driver/guide, who will arrive in a 4 x 4 Land Cruiser Jeep to embark on your safari adventure. Gain insights from your guide's extensive experience and knowledge of wildlife and parks as you head south through Kenya’s central highlands, passing homesteads and small communities. Driving through the Rift Valley escarpment, pause to rest and marvel at the scenic wonders of the great valley.

Upon reaching the Masai Mara National Reserve, freshen up at your accommodation and savor a hearty lunch. Then, it's safari time! Venture on the first of many game drives over the next eight days, enjoying the picturesque vistas of the park's rolling hills and making your first thrilling animal sightings. Toward late afternoon, return to your Masai Mara safari lodge or tented camp for dinner and a potential recap of your first day of adventure.

Day 2 Full Day at the Masai Mara

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
Embark on your first full day of game drives in the Masai Mara, offering an endless array of environments to explore. Known for its abundant prides of lions and other big cats, your guide will track them along with elephants, buffalo, rhinos, and a diverse array of wildlife.

Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy at the Mara River, the site of the Great Migration of wildebeests and zebras, sometimes numbering in the thousands. Consider optional extras, such as a visit to a local Maasai village for a cultural experience or a hot air balloon safari over the park for a unique perspective.

Conclude your second safari day at your Mara lodge or camp.

Day 3 Masai Mara – Lake Victoria

5 – 6 Hour Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Start the day with an early morning game drive in the Masai Mara, maximizing your exploration of this remarkable park. Later, head to Tanzania, crossing the border town of Isebania. At the border, switch vehicles and meet your new Tanzania driver/guide.

Lake Victoria is the next destination, with an afternoon arrival for a refreshing stop at your lodge. Explore the lake's surroundings, and perhaps visit the nearby Bunda Market. Enjoy dinner and rest at your Lake Victoria accommodation.

Day 4 Lake Manyara - Serengeti

3-Hour Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Explore the environs of Lake Victoria in the morning, visiting a fishing village for a guided tour that provides insights into the area's traditional lifestyle, including fishing techniques.Proceed to the nearby Serengeti Park, a massive ecosystem teeming with wildlife. Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive, offering a first glimpse of this world-renowned reserve. Settle into your Serengeti lodge or tented camp, making plans for the full day ahead.

Day 5 Full Day at Serengeti

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Embark on unlimited game drives in the renowned Serengeti, globally recognized for its abundant wildlife. With an estimated 3,000 - 4,000 lions and countless wildebeests and zebras, witness the Great Migration, a colossal annual trek of grazers.
As the sun sets, return to the Serengeti safari lodge or tented camp.

Day 6 Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater

3-Hour Drive
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Conclude the Serengeti experience with an early morning game drive before heading to the Ngorongoro Crater. Descend the crater walls in the 4 x 4 Jeep into a vibrant world of big cats, rhinos, buffaloes, hippos, zebras, and colorful birds, including fuchsia flamingoes.

Enjoy a picnic lunch at Ngoitoktok Springs and spend the afternoon spotting diverse wildlife. As the sun sets, ascend the crater's rim for a breathtaking sunset.

Day 7 Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha - Nairobi

3.5-Hour Drive to Arusha Additional 4-Hour Drive to Nairobi.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Witness a spectacular sunrise at the crater's rim on the final safari day. After breakfast, journey to Arusha with a lunch stop, offering the option to be dropped off at your hotel or Kilimanjaro airport. Alternatively, continue to Nairobi, concluding a safari filled with memories of Kenya's and Tanzania's finest parks and remarkable wildlife.
